Top Pontoon Brands: Your 2026 UPDATED Guide

Whether you’re shopping for a new pontoon boat or just curious what people are talking about in the industry, below is a compiled list of the Top 8 pontoon brands based on U.S. market share.

Pontoon shopping can be hard. I completely understand.

I’ve been around pontoon boats my entire life and I still catch myself getting overwhelmed sometimes. Why? Because there are a lot of brands out there. And every single one has different series, layouts, lengths, packages, accessories, and engine options.

It can feel like drinking from a firehose.

So let’s break down some of the top pontoon brands in the market right now and what people are saying about them.

How did we pull this list?

To keep this as unbiased as possible, I pulled SSI data from January 2026. SSI stands for Statistical Surveys Inc., which is the company that tracks marine industry retail boat registrations across the United States.

Now, one thing to keep in mind: not every state reports data. States decide individually whether they submit their registration numbers.

For this dataset, 36 states reported data, representing about 71.6% of the U.S. market. So while this isn’t a perfect 100% dataset, it gives us a very solid picture of what’s happening in the pontoon market.

Without further ado, let’s get into it.

Top 8 Pontoon Brands (Based on Market Share)

  1. Tracker

Tracker pontoons offer a range of models that are perfect for families looking to get out on the water without breaking the bank. Because they sell through Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s locations across the country, Tracker moves a large number of boats each year. That sheer volume of boats out on the water puts them at the top of this list and makes them a very common entry point for first-time boat owners.

  2. Bennington
Bennington is known for offering a high level of customization, allowing buyers to build a boat that fits their exact preferences and style. They’ve also been one of the largest pontoon manufacturers for years, which means their owner population is huge. Even though some longtime boaters say their styling has changed over the years, you can’t deny the massive number of Bennington boats out on the water.

  3. Barletta
With only 8  years of operation, Barletta is the fastest-growing pontoon brand in the industry. Barletta offers a lot of features that keep the customer top of mind, and the company has built a reputation for thoughtful design, strong customer service, and high quality construction. As the “new kid on the block,” Barletta has quickly become an industry disruptor, consistently winning customer satisfaction and innovation awards.

  4.  Avalon & Tahoe
Avalon and Tahoe are sister brands operating under the same ownership, and both are known for their attention to detail and strong craftsmanship. These brands have been around for decades and have built loyal followings among pontoon owners. Their lineup ranges from sporty performance models to more luxurious cruising pontoons, giving buyers a wide range of options depending on how they like to boat.

  5. Sylvan
Sylvan pontoons are known for their clean styling and innovative construction. The brand offers a wide range of models and price points, making them appealing to both newer boaters and experienced owners who want a pontoon that balances performance and comfort.

  6. Godfrey
Godfrey has a long history in the pontoon industry and is known for dependable, well-built boats. They offer several different lines that cater to different lifestyles and budgets, from entry-level pontoons to more premium models with upgraded finishes and performance packages.

  7.  Harris
Harris pontoons have been around for decades and are known for producing boats with smooth rides and reliable performance. Many Harris owners appreciate the brand’s focus on comfort and usability, making them a popular choice for both cruising and watersports.

  8. Bently
Bentley pontoons generally fall into the value category of the market, offering straightforward boats designed to get families out on the water at a more accessible price point. They focus on delivering the essentials most pontoon buyers are looking for without adding unnecessary complexity.

Now, these are the top brands when it comes to market share. There are actually dozens of pontoon brands out there, and in fact five new brands have popped up just within the last year.

One of the best ways to hear candid thoughts and feedback is to look through Facebook owner groups or even Reddit. These communities are filled with real pontoon boat owners who have spent time on the water with these boats and aren’t afraid to share their honest experiences.

Just remember, no one has made a perfect boat, try as they might. If you dig deep enough you will find negative comments about every brand. What matters most is how those issues are handled.

How do I pick the right boat for me?

Now that you’ve checked out some of the brands, let’s talk about what actually matters when you start narrowing down your options. If you want a complete guide on purchasing a pontoon, you can find it here.  For the condensed version, here are the biggest things to pay attention to.

Floorplans

There are a lot of floorplans out there, so finding the right one for your needs is key. Are you someone who loves hosting a big group and hanging out with a crowd? Look for a layout with plenty of seating, wide decks, and extras like tables or built-in coolers. If your ideal day is more of a relaxed cruise with a few close friends, then a layout with large lounge seating and shaded areas might be perfect.

Engine Power

Don’t overlook the engine. It can completely change your experience on the water. How much horsepower you need depends on how you plan to use the boat. If you mostly want to cruise around and enjoy the ride, a smaller engine can be quiet, efficient, and perfect for relaxed outings. If you want to pull tubes, wakeboard, or move a little quicker, you’ll want more horsepower.

One piece of boating advice I’ve heard my entire life still holds true: if you’re deciding between two engine sizes and you can afford it, go with the bigger one. You will rarely hear someone say, “I wish I went with the smaller engine.”

Pontoons: Bitoons vs. Tritoons

Years ago most pontoons had just two tubes, called bitoons. These days tritoons, which have three tubes, are much more common. Bitoons can still be a great option for calmer water and tighter budgets, but tritoons provide smoother rides, better handling, and the ability to run more horsepower.

If the budget allows, I will almost always recommend going with a tritoon.

Budget and Features

From basic to luxury, there’s a pontoon for every budget. Entry-level models get you on the water with the essentials. Mid-range boats add comfort and convenience, while luxury models bring in premium materials, technology, and higher performance options.

Think about the features that matter most to you, whether that’s upgraded audio, lighting, comfortable seating, or tech at the helm, and balance those with your budget.

Making the Decision

At the end of the day, the right pontoon is the one that fits your lifestyle and how you actually plan to boat.

Take your time to research, compare brands, walk through different models, and if possible get out on the water for a test drive.

Happy pontoon hunting, and here’s to making memories on the water.
